The final film from Hungarian auteur Béla Tarr is a brilliant rumination on death and human existence. Drawing inspiration from German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s rumoured mental breakdown after witnessing the whipping of a horse. This fictional period drama details the final days lives of an aging farmer, his daughter and their horse. Set against a desolate black and white landscape and shot in 30 long takes. THE TURIN HORSE is a haunting yet one of a kind cinematic experience. In Hungarian and German w/ subtitles.
