In what would be Robin Williams’ breakthrough performance, GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM casts the comedian as an irreverent radio DJ sent to Saigon during the Vietnam War to help cheer up the troops. While there, he shocks his superior officer, who attempts to censor him, while befriending a local woman who shows him the horrors of war. Williams would win a Golden Globe and earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a captivating performance that blends his unique brand of manic comedy with poignant drama.
